Writers Read Their Latest Works for the Public

The public is guaranteed a very entertaining evening when two writers-in-residence read from their latest works on Tuesday, March 7th. Sheena Blackhall, Writer-In-Residence at the Elphinstone Institute at the University of Aberdeen and Magi Gibson, Writer-In-Residence for Aberdeenshire will appear at 7:00 pm in the City of Aberdeen Room in the King’s College Conference Centre in Old Aberdeen.

Magi Gibson said: “I will be reading from my next collection, entitled Wild Women of a Certain Age, which will come out at the start of May. It is a collection of political satire and women’s issues – but with a sense of humour.”

Cencrastus Literary Magazine recently had this to say of Magi Gibson: “Blessed be Maggie Gibson that for the country hath meet of such a voice – made in Scotland from girders!” Magi Gibson’s poetry collections include Kicking Back, Strange Fish and Premier Results.

Sheena Blackhall said: “I will read extracts from my new book The Singing Bird, due out in the spring, containing poetry in Doric and English, some of which is set in King’s College. I will also be performing some traditional folk songs of the Northeast.” Sheena Blackhall’s recent works include Stagwyse, The Bonsai Grower, and The Heilanman’s Sporran.

Admission is free and open to the public.
