Key issues addressed at annual oil and gas confererence

The effect of global events on the oil price and the uncertain economic environment will be just some of the key topics discussed at an annual oil conference next month.

Senior figures in the oil and gas industry will meet at the University for the Overview of the North Sea Oil and Gas Industry training event, which has been organised and hosted by Prospect CPD. It is aimed at the non-specialist or those new to the sector and provides an insight into the fundamental areas making up the industry and the issues it faces today.

Conference organiser Nikki Musgrave said that the conference, which is now in its ninth year, will benefit anyone with an interest in the oil industry and is invaluable to those requiring a broad understanding of the sector.

Professor John Wils, UKOOA, will chair this year’s two-day event. He said: “Today, there remains more oil and gas reserves to be produced from the UK Continental Shelf than the 28billion barrels of oil equivalent already produced.

“The oil and gas sector will continue to impact upon many areas of the workforce, which help to sustain this vital industry. This conference provides a unique opportunity to increase your business effectiveness; with the range of topics and the calibre of speakers, you gain a complete overview of the oil industry in just two days.”

This year, following feedback from previous delegates, sessions will be grouped into four key areas: exploration, operations, facilities development and the future. Popular elements such as the Decommissioning Debate will also take place.

The conference will take place at the King’s College Conference Centre, University of Aberdeen, on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 November 2001. Places are still available and anyone interested should contact Nikki Musgrave, Prospect CPD, MacRobert Building, King’s College, Aberdeen, telephone: (01224) 272523; fax: (01224) 272079; or email:
