From Mir to Here…..

Russian Cosmonauts to visit the University of Aberdeen

As part of Scottish Science Year, the University of Aberdeen is delighted to welcome two top Russian space experts to a public talk on the world of the Russian Space Exploration Program.

Cosmonaut Alexander Volkov, Commander of the Cosmonauts Team at the Russian Training Centre for Cosmonauts will talk about his three trips into space, the work of the ‘Mir’ orbital research complex and his involvement in the large programme of scientific research.

The public talk will take place at King’s College Conference Centre, University of Aberdeen on Monday, March 18, at 6.30pm. Alexander Volkov will be joined by the city of Korolev Head of Foreign Relations, Dr Alexander Martynov. Located north west of Moscow, Korolev has for many years been the centre of the Russian Space Industry.

The evening’s talk will be introduced by Professor Albert Rodger, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering who said: “This talk promises to be a fascinating journey into the world of space science and will be a great event for all the family.”
