North of Scotland Graduate Recruitment Fair

Over 1,500 students and graduates are expected to attend the first Scottish Graduate Recruitment Fair of 2003 to be held in Aberdeen tomorrow (Friday, May 23). The University of Aberdeen and The Robert Gordon University will jointly host the Annual North of Scotland Graduate Recruitment Fair at the Aberdeen Music Hall from 10.45 to 3.30pm.

Around 40 companies with local, national and international interests will be represented, offering students the chance to find out more about the diverse range of employment and training opportunities. The University of Aberdeen will be present, providing information on the many exciting taught and research programmes available across its five faculties. One such programme on offer is the University's Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Secondary) - PGCE(S). The PGCE(S) aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes which are necessary to prepare them as new secondary school teachers in what is a stimulating and challenging environment.

Cathy Macaslan, Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Aberdeen said: "This is a great opportunity to get information on secondary teaching from teachers and student teachers. It will give a sense of what is so enjoyable and worthwhile about this job. We hope to see interested people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences who have something to offer the education of young people. Whether you are interested now or might be in the future come along and find out what's so great about teaching!"

Locker Madden, University of Aberdeen Careers and Appointments Service said: "Our Fair enables us at the University of Aberdeen Careers and Appointments Service to continue our successful collaboration with The Robert Gordon University Careers Advisory Service. This ensures the best graduates attend, the broadest range of international, national and regional employers visit and the widest publicity is available. All working together to ensure the continued success of this event."
