The impact devolution has had on the move towards renewable energy will be discussed today (Wednesday, Nov 19) during a talk at King’s College.
Dr David Toke, a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Policy at the University of Birmingham, will give a lecture from 2-4pm in the Edward Wright building (S86) as part of the University of Aberdeen's Politics and IR seminar series.
He is currently writing a book on renewable energy and is also promoting a research agenda focused on renewable energy and devolution.
The interdisciplinary nature of his work and the significant input he has had on public policy in the energy area is likely to make the talk of wide-ranging interest.
Some of Dr Toke's key research interests have been the impact of neo-liberalism on public policy, the interpretation of scientific uncertainty in issues such as GM food, environmental politics and public policy issues affecting wind power and energy efficiency.
Dr Toke studied political science at the University of Liverpool and Birmingham but spent the bulk of his career as a schoolteacher, writing in his spare time on environmental policy issues, a topic that forms the central focus of his current research activity.
He has published two academic books and around 30 of his articles have been accepted for publication in academic journals, including Geoforum and Public Administration.
The lecture takes place on Wednesday, November 19 from 2-4pm in S86 of the Edward Wright Building, King's College.
