Creepy Creatures workshops offer Halloween fun

From creepy crawlies that come out at night to spellbinding potions conjured from a witch’s cauldron - Halloween is set to come early to Aberdeen youngsters thanks to a series of events hosted by the University of Aberdeen.

Creepy Creatures workshops will take place every day this week from 2-4pm in the University's Natural History Centre based in the Zoology Building.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in the spooky trail and get to know the rats and bats, tarantulas and toads and spiders and snakes which can all be found in the centre and the Zoology museum, whilst searching for the ingredients to brew up a magical concoction in the witch's pot.

Children of all ages are invited to take part in the events which will also include the chance to craft a spooky skeleton to take home, and see the creepiest of crawlies up close – the cockroach.

Entry is free to the workshops, which mark the first opportunity for visitors to explore the Zoology Museum, since its closure over the summer due to maintenance work.

Marie Fish, Education Officer at the Natural History Centre said: "The Creepy Creatures workshops are entirely interactive, allowing youngsters to get up close to some of nature's most spooky insects and beasts.

"The range of activities on offer, which will take place every day this week, create the ideal opportunity for children to get into the spirit of Halloween early."
