The University of Aberdeen will open its doors to further collaboration and partnership opportunities on Thursday when it stages a major event for the business community.

Innovate with Aberdeen – The Frontiers of Excellence will allow businesses to learn more about the University's near to market technologies and speak to the scientists developing them.

It is also a chance for companies to find out how they can capitalise on cutting edge research underway in Aberdeen in a wide range of fields. This latest Innovate will focus on energy, policy and health and nutrition.

Professor Dominic Houlihan is the driving force behind the twice yearly event which is taking place at the University's Elphinstone Hall and is open to all.

The Vice Principal for Research and Commercialisation said: "This is the third in our series of extremely popular Innovate with Aberdeen events and we have we have exhibitions, presentations and talks that will appeal to all sectors of the business community, to small and medium enterprises, oil majors and health professionals.

"Innovate is a great opportunity for companies to hear how they could benefit from consultancy work, knowledge transfer partnerships, continuing professional development, as well as from the wide range of technologies that are being developed at the University.

"I am also thrilled that Dr James Smith, Chairman of Shell, is taking part in our keynote session in the evening where he will discuss Shell's latest energy scenarios.

"The University's renowned oil petroleum economist Professor Alex Kemp will also be discussing the many factors affecting the global oil and gas economy at what promises to be an unmissable session."

Innovate with Aberdeen kicks off at 12.45pm with exhibits and talks that will run until 5pm. The keynote session and question time with Dr Smith and Professor Kemp begins at 5.30pm and will be followed by a drinks and networking reception which takes place between 6.45pm and 9pm.
