Aberdeen hosts leading international experts for molecular conference

Leading international scientists from 15 countries will meet at the University of Aberdeen this week to present their latest findings in the field of molecular quantum dynamics.

The Molecular Potential Energy Surfaces in Many Dimensions conference will showcase the cutting edge research within the field of molecular science, which is helping to shape discoveries in crucial areas including pharmaceuticals and astronomy.

Hosted by the University's School of Natural and Computing Sciences, the prestigious event takes place from 30 June to 3 July.

35 delegates will attend the occasion from countries including America, Canada, France and Germany. 

Organiser of the event, Dr Mark Law, senior lecturer in Chemistry at the University of Aberdeen said: "The conference brings together world leading theoretical chemistry researchers and molecular physicists.  The event underlines the UK's strong international reputation in these research fields and Aberdeen's part in that.

"Research within molecular quantum dynamics is impacting on discoveries in a wide range of molecular science from environmental modelling and astronomy to biological systems and new pharmaceuticals.  The aim of the event is to create a platform to bring together world leading experts to present their work and share knowledge."
