World class chamber ensemble set to delight Aberdeen audience

An evening of inspiring melody and music will delight Aberdeen audiences this weekend as one of the world’s leading chamber ensembles take to the stage.

Gemini Ensemble will bring their outstanding repertoire of music to the University of Aberdeen's Elphinstone Hall on Sunday April 20 at 7.45pm.  The performance is set to be an impressive highlight in the University of Aberdeen Concert Series.

The globally celebrated ensemble has performed extensively in the UK and worldwide.  Their anticipated performance will include a range of moving music from the emotional power of Schubert to the rousing originality of Maconchy.

Dr Paul Mealor, Senior Lecturer in Music at the University of Aberdeen says of the event: "We are honored to have an ensemble of this calibre grace the stage as part of the University of Aberdeen Concert Series.  Internationally renowned for their inspiring performances, we are sure they will deliver a powerful show."

Gemini Ensemble consists of soprano Sarah Leonard, pianist Huw Watkins and Ian Mitchell on clarinet.  Since its formation in 1974, the ensemble has been awarded a host of accolades including the Arts Council Incentive Award.  Gemini Ensemble is currently Ensemble-in-Residence at the Universities of Surrey and Bristol.

Tickets for the event are available from Aberdeen Box Office on (01224) 641122 or www.boxofficeaberdeen.com.
