Library on show to alumni

The Chancellor of the Exchequer was among more than 100 guests who gathered in London to hear more about the University of Aberdeen’s vision for a flagship multimillion pound library.

The Rt Hon Alistair Darling MP was among University alumni and guests at the University's reception at the HSBC Bank HQ. The venue provided by graduate host, Mark McCombe (MA 87) who is Global CEO of HSBC Investments Ltd.

A new model of the £57M library was on show for guests, and Morten Schmidt, Project Director of architects schmidt hammer lassen, gave an illustrated presentation bringing plans for the new building to life.

Lori Manders, Director of External Affairs, said of last week's event: "It was a great evening and encouraging to see such a large gathering of alumni supporters in attendance.

"The night was an opportunity to find out more about our plans to create one of the world's most inspirational libraries and it prompted really positive feedback."
