Gail Porter laid bare at Aberdeen

Television personality Gail Porter is in Aberdeen today to talk about her life in the public eye.

The former children's TV presenter and 90s pin-up recently released her autobiography, Laid Bare – My Story of Love, Fame and Survival.

Tonight (Wednesday, October 24) the diminutive Scots star will talk about her triumphs and tragedies at the University of Aberdeen's King's College Centre.

Gail made her mark on Britain's TV screens in the late 90s and infamously had her naked form projected on to the Houses of Parliament.

But beneath her cheery public façade, she was struggling with anorexia and bipolar disorder.

She also suffered crippling post-natal depression and the breakdown of her marriage to Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave.

And stress-induced alopecia caused her to lose her hair.

Co-organiser Fiona Bain said, "Gail Porter has packed more into her life so far than most people manage in a lifetime. We're delighted to welcome her to the University of Aberdeen for what will be a fascinating evening."

Gail will be at King's College Conference Centre from 6.30pm to discuss her autobiography, answer questions and conduct a book signing.
