Interactyx opens new office in Aboyne

Interactyx opens new office in Aboyne

A dynamic Scottish company which creates interactive learning solutions for higher education and training establishments worldwide will open a new office in Aboyne tomorrow (Thursday, August 9).

From its offices in Aberdeenshire, London and San Francisco, Interactyx works with respected teachers, researchers and practitioners from some of Britain's oldest universities and banking institutions.

Interactyx is the publisher of LiveEcon™, which is set to revolutionise the way economics is learnt.  LiveEcon™ allows students to learn economics in a highly interactive environment. LiveEcon™ has expert provenance, having been extensively trialled and tested at the University of Aberdeen Business School and the Judge Business School, Cambridge. LiveEcon is being followed by equally powerful tools for teaching financial accounting and statistics.

Due to expansion in the number of employees based at its Aboyne Headquarters, Interactyx has acquired a new office, next to its existing premises at the Aboyne Castle Business Centre.

Professor C Duncan Rice, Principal and Vice Chancellor at the University of Aberdeen, will officially open the new office on Thursday, August 9 at 12.30pm, accompanied by Professor Angela Black, from the University of Aberdeen Graduate School.

LiveEcon has been adopted by over 30 universities in the UK as well as in Europe, India, USA and Australia. A US version will be available before the start of the new academic year.

Charles Jordan, Chairman and founder of Interactyx, said: "I am delighted that Professor Rice has joined us today. The support of the University of Aberdeen indicates just how important partnerships between academia and private enterprise are to the success of innovative products, and the University has been an outstanding partner, ever since 1999".

"Our first product, LiveEcon has been developed by a highly talented local team, and is already being used in over one third of the universities in the UK, and more worldwide.  We are now looking forward to breaking into the North American market in this next academic year."

Professor Rice is pleased to be supporting the new office opening and said: "The University has been a strong supporter of Interactyx and its flagship product, LiveEcon for many years, providing authors and students to write and test the product.

"I look forward to continuing the collaboration between our organisations in the future and would like to wish everyone at Interactyx every success as the company officially opens its new office."

Mr Jordan will welcome Professor Rice, and introduce presentations from Miles Reid, Technical Director, on the innovative technology and skills used in the products, and Duncan Crole, Managing Director who will speak about the company's international dimension, and the future for e-learning technology.

Professor Rice will cut a ribbon, officially opening the new office before viewing a plaque to commemorate the occasion.

Other guests attending the opening event will include company staff and directors, and academic authors involved with the creation of the Interactyx product range.
