University strengthens ties with King’s School Oxford

The University of Aberdeen has strengthened ties with King’s School Oxford with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The signing of the MOU will enable both parties to strengthen their cultural ties and understanding with the international community, to promote the internationalisation of education, and to broaden the opportunities and horizons of students.

The University wishes to co-operate with King's School Oxford to enhance access to university education for international and UK students by facilitating the recruitment of King's School Oxford students to various University of Aberdeen courses.

The agreement will enable both parties to co-operate to form mutually beneficial arrangements to establish educational programmes which will allow King's School Oxford students to obtain advanced standing on University of Aberdeen courses.

An accelerated programme is being offered by the University in partnership with King's School Oxford.  Students applying for the foundation level can be offered a conditional acceptance to the 2nd year of the University's BEng programme when they are accepted to the King's School Oxford foundation level programme.

Head of the College of Physical Sciences and Vice Principal at the University of Aberdeen, Professor Albert Rodger, welcomed the MOU signing and said: "This is an excellent opportunity for the University of Aberdeen to build links with King's School Oxford.

"This engagement is the latest in a number of MOUs which the institution has signed this year and is an important step forward in our ambition to have the University of Aberdeen recognised as an international centre of quality and excellence in research and education.

"We greatly welcome the forging of these fresh links between the University of Aberdeen and King's School Oxford and we look forward to working together on collaborative projects in the future."
