Exploring colour at the Natural History Centre

Little scientists will be exploring how people and animals see colour at two action packed events taking place tomorrow (April 28) at Old Aberdeen.

The Spring into Colour workshops are the latest in the regular series of Nature Tots sessions which are organised by the University of Aberdeen’s Natural History Centre.

Pre-school children aged between two and five will attend the events which will take place inside and outdoors.

Marie Fish, Education Officer at the University, said: “We’ve borrowed a model of a human eye from the University’s anatomy department and we will be using that and crystals to find out why we see colour.

“We’ll also be exploring how animals see colour, which for many of them is completely different to how we see colour.

“We’re keeping our fingers crossed for fine weather as we’ll be out and about in the Cruickshank Botanic Gardens which are bursting into bloom just now and we’ll also have the children making butterfly and moth masks which they will be able to take home.

“It promises to be really busy and full of fun!”

The Spring into Colour sessions take place tomorrow between 10am and 12 noon and then again between 2pm and 4pm.

* The next Nature Tots sessions Around the World take place on July 28 between 10am and 12 noon and 2pm and 4pm and will be held at The David Welch Winter Gardens at the Duthie Park, Aberdeen.
