Aberdeen Magazine among best in class

The University of Aberdeen's corporate magazine last night reached the final of the prestigious PR Week Awards.

Aberdeen magazine, edited by Leonard Forman and produced by Rogue Publishing, was one of only five publications in the UK to be shortlisted in the “best corporate publications category". Britvic Soft Drinks won the award for its Category Report 2005.

Aberdeen was the only university in the UK among the finalists in 26 award categories for the public and private sectors, ranging from International Consultancy of the Year to Young PR Professional of the Year.

Speaking after the ceremony in London, Leonard Forman, Special Adviser, Strategic Communications Unit at the University of Aberdeen said: "This is a great honour for Aberdeen and the editorial team. We have just published our fourth issue and are particularly proud to ranked among the best in the country by a distinguished panel of independent judges."

Launched last Spring the 80-page biannual magazine has a global circulation of over 68,000 and includes an energetic and forward-looking mix of news and features from interviews with influential Aberdeen graduates from around the world to the latest in the University’s cutting-edge research.

Some of the country’s top journalists and commentators write for the publication including Tim Luckhurst, Alan Taylor, Susan Mansfield, James Naughtie and Anthony Hilton.

More than 1300 guests attended the annual event, which is seen as the Oscars of the PR industry, at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. PR Week is the leading publication for the public relations industry. The awards scheme is now in its 19th year and is a showcase for best in the public relations industry.
